SUMMARY:22nd Annual Mammography in Santa Fe: Music\, Mammograms\, and Mountains\, Featuring Keynote Speaker Dr. Laszlo Tabar
DESCRIPTION:FOUR GREAT WAYS TO MEET ALL YOUR INITIAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR MQSA AND ACR ACCREDITATION IN MAMMOGRAPHY\, BREAST MRI (Society of Breast MRI Hands-on 200 case review)\,  TOMOSYNTHESIS\, & AUTOMATED BREAST ULTRASOUND ALL IN ONE CONFERENCE!\n \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nThis course is designed for radiologists who find themselves challenged by the new practical issues of performing successful high-quality breast imaging in a changing medical environment. This year\, we have redesigned the course to better meet every radiologist’s ongoing breast imaging needs: \nFOUR GREAT WAYS TO MEET ALL YOUR INITIAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR MQSA\, FDA\, AND ACR ACCREDITATION IN MAMMOGRAPHY\, BREAST MRI\, TOMOSYNTHESIS\, & AUTOMATED BREAST ULTRASOUND\, ALL IN ONE CONFERENCE! \nAttendees have a CHOICE of attending the didactic track encompassing all breast imaging modalities\, and/or any or all of the FOUR interactive workshop tracks\, all taught by a world class faculty: \n\nIn MAMMOGRAPHY (300 unknown cases read by each attendee at the workstation)  [up to 10 hours of CME]\nIn MRI (Society of Breast MRI Hands-on 200 case review at the workstation) [up to 10 hours of CME]\, and\nIn TOMOSYNTHESIS (8 hours of interactive instruction)\nIn AUTOMATED BREAST ULTRASOUND (5 Hour training course plus 3 hour prerequisite self-study prior to hands-on session).\n\nBy doing so\, attendees can meet the 240 case initial recertification requirements in mammography under MQSA\, meet the 100 cases MRI interpretation requirements for ACR accreditation in breast MRI\, and meet the initial 8 hours of training required by FDA for interpretation of Tomosynthesis cases! \nAttendees can choose to attend only the didactic track\, OR can combine the didactic track with ANY OR ALL of these interactive tracks! (They also may choose to attend only the 8 hour Tomosynthesis track. In order to receive the 8 hour certification in tomosynthesis\, FDA requires 8 hours of prior training in digital mammography. If you do not have prior training in digital mammography\, this can be fulfilled by also taking the digital mammography workshop track.) \nAttendees can also choose to attend only the Automated Whole Breast Ultrasound track on the afternoon of the last day of the course\, if they wish. (This option not available for Technologists). \nThe extremely popular and successful hands-on workshops teaching stereotactic\, ultrasound-guided\, and MR needle biopsy techniques\, featuring the latest equipment from a wide spectrum of vendors\, will also again be offered and will be included as part of the didactic lecture track. \n \n  \nThis year\, we are honoring DR. LASZLO TABAR as our Keynote Speaker.  Dr. Tabar’s work more than anyone has proven the life-saving value of mammography.  He has mentored and trained thousands of radiologists world-wide\, resulting in saving the lives of countless women.  He continues to teach and bring brilliant new concepts to light.  Dr. Tabar will present many of these new concepts in his keynote lectures during this course.    \n  \nSPECIAL NOTICE TO THOSE WISHING TO ATTEND THE 8 HOUR ALL DAY INTERACTIVE TOMOSYNTHESIS COURSE ON FRIDAY: \nThis course includes the option to read up to 160 tomosynthesis cases on your own at the workstation.  Attendees can do so PRIOR TO the interactive Tomosynthesis lecture course on Friday\, OR can review the tomosynthesis cases at the workstation on Friday afternoon\, after the morning didactic session on Tomosynthesis. The latter way of attending the Tomosynthesis course is more ideal\, as the attendees would be gaining the full benefit of the didactic lectures prior to reviewing cases “live” at the workstation.  HOWEVER\, if you wish to review tomo cases at the workstation up to and including Thursday night instead of waiting until after the didactic portion of the tomosynthesis course on Friday\, you will have completed 8 hours of tomosynthesis training by the end of the didactic course at 12:00 Noon on Friday\, and are free to leave at that time.  HOWEVER\, if you choose to do this\, it would be VERY HELPFUL to you to attend the workshop orientation session at 3:15 PM on Tuesday\, August 8. \nIf you choose the option of reading tomosynthesis cases at the workstation after the didactic tomosynthesis lectures on Friday morning (which is the PREFERRED ORDER for the most learning benefit)\, then you must stay until 5:30 PM Friday to complete the 8 hours of the Tomosynthesis course. \nEDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES\nBy the end of this course\, registrants will be able to: \n\nApply new and improved skills in perception to the interpretation of screening mammograms.\nDevelop strategies to reduce the possibility of a missed lesion at screening.\nPerform a more comprehensive evaluation of screening-detected abnormalities\, including appropriate use of special mammographic views\, ultrasound\, MR\, and other modalities.\nAppraise the current status of interventional breast procedures\, especially core biopsy.\nPerform the techniques of stereotactic\, ultrasound\, and MR-guided core needle biopsy of the breast.\nDelineate the expanding role of the Breast MR in the everyday practice of breast imaging\, including its role in screening high-risk patients.\nPerform interpretation of up to 300 digital mammograms at the workstation\, documented toward accreditation or re-accreditation in mammography under MQSA\nPerform interpretation of up to 200 Breast MR examinations\, documented toward ACR Breast MR accreditation.\nAcquire up to 8 hours of Tomosynthesis interactive instruction\, documented toward fulfilling the 8 hours required by FDA for one to perform and interpret Tomosynthesis.\nAppreciate the role of Automated Breast Ultrasound in breast cancer screening.\n\nAccreditation\nThe International Institute for Continuing Medical Education\, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. \nDesignation\nThe International Institute for Continuing Medical Education\, Inc.\, designates this live activity for a maximum of [acf field=”iicme_course_credits”] AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. \nThe International Institute for Continuting Medical Education\, Inc. further requires each participant to submit a credit claim form\, stating the hours of participation in the educational activity. \n  \nThis program provides the following CME Credit Hours by Modality: \nDIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY (didactic sessions):  11.0 hours\nBREAST ULTRASOUND (didactic sessions & interventional workshop):  6.0 hours\nBREAST MRI (didactic sessions & interventional workshop):  6.0 hours\nDIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY: WORKSHOP AT THE WORKSTATION:  up to 10.0 hours\nBREAST MRI: WORKSHOP AT THE WORKSTATION:  up to 10.0 hours\nTOMOSYNTHESIS INTERACTIVE COURSE (didactic & workshops): 8.0 hours\nAUTOMATED BREAST ULTRASOUND (Special training session): 4.0 hours\nAlso – 5 SAMS (pending ABR approval) \nSaveSave \nSaveSave
