SUMMARY:Breast Imaging 2020
DESCRIPTION:This course blends the newest innovations in breast imaging with time-honored traditional breast imaging modalities and procedures. Special attention will be given to Tomosynthesis and Breast MR\, as well as Whole Breast Ultrasound. The contentious issues of Breast Density Legislation and Screening Guidelines will also be addressed. \nNEW THIS YEAR\nThursday\, the first day of the course\, will be a tomosynthesis workstation-based workshop\, featuring the new high definition synthesized 2D images.\nThere will be three separate 75 minute workshops\, all identical. Each one will be preceded by an introductory lecture\, and then 12 people will be able to sit at individual workstations and review 25 cases featuring the new high resolution tomosynthesis and new high resolution synthesized 2D images. Each case will be accompanied by an answer sheet which will allow for the attendees to get immediate feedback on that case as they proceed through the cases. \nIndividuals MUST sign up for one of the three groups available on Thursday morning. There are only 12 slots in each workshop\, and these will be assigned on a first come\, first served basis. When you register for the course\, also send an email to us at iicmemail@gmail.com and indicate which Workshop Group you prefer (1/2/3 – see Thursday’s schedule). You should give us your first and second choice. If you choose not to participate in the workshop\, please call or send us an email indicating this as well\, the day you sign up. If you do not email us on the day you register for the meeting with your group preference\, we will assign you to a workshop. We will try to accommodate everyone’s choice\, although we cannot promise this in advance. The sooner you sign up\, the more likely you will be to get the time slot you want. \n  \nEducational Objectives\n\nReview the basic principles and current guidelines for screening mammography\nAddress the multimodality approach to the evaluation of breast lesions\nOutline the current applications of hand-held and whole breast ultrasound in the screening and diagnostic arenas\nDescribe the major aspects of breast MR\, including imaging techniques and current indications\nDiscuss the medical and legal concerns regarding the missed breast cancer\nDelineate current and future applications of Breast Tomosynthesis\nExplore the role of breast density in screening for breast cancer\nAddress new techniques\, including abbreviated MR and contrast mammography\nRecount the potential role of Molecular Breast Imaging for breast cancer screening and diagnosis\nDevelop skills in detecting early breast cancer by interpreting actual tomosynthesis cases at the workstation\n\nTarget Audience\nThis course is intended for all radiologists with a special interest in Breast Imaging. The faculty is comprised of nationally recognized expert teachers of Breast Imaging with a broad breadth of experience and knowledge in this field. \nAccreditation\nThe International Institute for Continuing Medical Education\, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. \nDesignation\nThe International Institute for Continuing Medical Education\, Inc.\, designates this live activity for a maximum of [acf field=”iicme_course_credits”] AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. \n  \nModality Breakdown\nTOTAL HOURS OF CME:  16.5 HRS.\nBreakdown of hours:\nBreast Ultrasound: 4.0 Hrs.\nBreast MR: 3.5 Hrs.\nDigital Mammography: 5.0 Hrs.\nBreast Tomosynthesis: 4.75 Hrs.\n4 SAMS (Pending ABR Approval)\n \n
