SUMMARY:Practical Thoracic Imaging 2019
DESCRIPTION:PRACTICAL THORACIC IMAGING course is designed as a comprehensive imaging review of diseases that affect the chest. Experienced faculty has been selected to cover the subject material that emphasizes their approach to solving clinically relevant problems involving the chest.  Review of traditional imaging as well as the benefits and caveats of newer imaging techniques will be presented. Ample time for questions and discussion will be provided.  There will be practical case presentations to encourage audience participation. \nEducational Objectives\nAt the completion of the course\, participants should be able to: \n\nDescribe abnormalities accurately that is meaningful to the clinicians. For example\, ideal locations of life support devices and defibrillators in the ICU setting.\nOffer differential diagnoses that help clinicians arrive at a diagnosis of the diseases of the chest.\nUnderstand the utility of conventional and advanced imaging relevant to diseases of the chest. For example\, know how to apply and use when appropriate for more accurate and cost-effective diagnostic workup.\nIntegrate early lung cancer screening into your clinical practice.\nLearn the tried and tested technique for fine needle aspiration for lung nodules.\nKnow the current lung cancer staging criteria according to TNM Classification.\nKnow the recommended follow-up for soft\, solid and part solid nodules.\nKnow the applicability of PET in the diagnosis of chest malignancies.\nKnow the global emergence of virulent viruses such as SARS\, Hantavirus\, and multidrug resistant bacteria such as MRSA and LRSA.\nUnderstand how to utilize\, and know the imaging findings of adult cardiac diseases.  For example\, the application of CT/MRI in coronary artery disease and TAVR.\nUnderstand the application of CT and MRI in breast imaging.\nIntegrate information presented in the course into efforts to improve their overall imaging skills.\n\nTarget Audience\nThis program is designed for general radiologists\, thoracic radiologists\, pulmonologists and cardiologists and ancillary health care professionals who desire an update on recent imaging advances and the use of imaging as an aid to clinical patient management for diseases of the chest. \n  \nAccreditation\nThe International Institute for Continuing Medical Education\, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. \nDesignation\nThe International Institute for Continuing Medical Education\, Inc.\, designates this live activity for a maximum of [acf field=”iicme_course_credits”] AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
