DESCRIPTION:For Membership Information Please Visit\nhttp://www.wnrs.org/\nEducational Description\nThe WNRS Annual Meeting is designed to introduce clinically relevant advances in Neuroradiology and provide in-depth review of topics within Neuroradiology.  The meeting will feature Focus Sessions in Head and Neck\, Advanced Brain Imaging\, New Approaches to Spine Imaging\, Interventional Neuroradiology\, Pediatric Neuroradiology\, as well as more General Medical Knowledge as it relates to Neuroimaging. \nLetter From the President\n\nDear Friends\, Colleagues\, and WNRS Society Supporters: \nThe WNRS 49th Annual Meeting will be held in Koloa\, Hawaii at the beautiful Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa\, October 25-28\, 2017.  I am extremely pleased that this meeting will be held in the Garden Isle of Kauai\, a location in which we have not held a meeting in the past.  As is customary for our Hawaii meetings\, this is a 4-day\, Wednesday to Saturday\, event to allow easy travel and ample recreational activity.  We have recently expanded the geographic region of the society and I want to extend an especially warm welcome to our new members and to first-time attendees. \nPresident-elect and Program Director\, Edward P. Quigley\, III\, MD\, PhD has put together a fantastic program with focus sessions in Advanced Brain Imaging\, Spine Imaging\, Neurointervention\, Head and Neck and Pediatric Imaging\, and special sessions on MRI Safety and Techniques\, Advanced Methodologies\, and New Frontiers in Neuroradiology.  The incoming 2017-2018 ASNR President\, Jacqueline A. Bello\, MD will be giving the annual update on the ASNR and Christopher G. Filippi\, MD will give an invited lecture as the Past-President representative from the ENRS. \nThe Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa is a spectacular beachfront facility with multiple swimming pools including a saltwater pool/lagoon\, an expansive yet secluded spa\, oceanfront golf course and tennis courts.  In addition to the annual golf tournament to be held at the on-site championship Robert Trent Jones\, Jr. golf course\, we have again organized a tennis tournament as well.  These events are all in the spirit of good fun so bring your racket and clubs as these are great ways to spend an afternoon and network with your colleagues.  We will also be organizing an afternoon/early evening sunset catamaran cruise along the amazing NaPali coast and I encourage everyone to attend this wonderful and surely memorable outing.\n \nIn my opinion\, this is by far my favorite meeting of the year and this also happens to be at my favorite location along the sunny\, pleasant\, and very hospitable southern shores of Kauai.  I very much look forward to seeing my neuroradiology friends and welcoming many new members to our cherished Society. \nSteven G. Imbesi\, MD\nPresident\, WNRS \nEducational Objectives\nUpon completion of this course the following goals and objectives will have been met: \n\nBecome familiar with advanced brain imaging techniques such as: grading of brain neoplasms\,use of molecular markers\, diffusion imaging\, spectroscopy\, and perfusion imaging\, use of imaging in the diagnosis of traumatic brain injury\, and understanding the effect of Gadolinium deposition in the brain.\nUnderstand pathology of the head and neck\, including HPV related cancers\, imaging issues regarding cancer staging\, and challenging diagnoses in head and neck imaging.\nLearn about novel imaging techniques and treatment options in spinal imaging and intervention.\nExplore state of the art and new methods in neuro interventional focus session.\nReview commonly overlooked findings in pediatric imaging during the pediatric neuroradiology focus session\nUnderstand current concepts and new technology for brain and spine neuro interventional procedures.\nObtain additional general medical knowledge including accelerated imaging techniques\, healthcare reform\, quality enhancement\, non interpretative skills\, medical education\, and the art and science of persuasion\nBecome introduced to new methodologies to add value to your practice\, such as medical 3D printing and visualization.\n\nTarget Audience\nThe 49th Annual Meeting of the Western Neuroradiological Society is geared for the neuroradiologist and radiologist in academic or private practice\, physicians in a neurologically-related specialty\, physicians in training or post-graduate training in a radiology-related specialty\, as well as physicians interested in brain\, head and neck\, and spine-related imaging and interventional techniques. \nAccreditation\nThe International Institute for Continuing Medical Education\, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. \nDesignation\nThe International Institute for Continuing Medical Education\, Inc.\, designates this live activity for a maximum of [acf field=”iicme_course_credits”] AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
