SUMMARY:Western Neuroradiological Society 2020 — Whova PLEASE NOTE: Course will be viewed on Whova!
DESCRIPTION:Please note: This course will be a virtual activity.\nGet Whova Now\n  \nEducational Description\nThe WNRS Annual Meeting is designed to introduce clinically relevant advances in Neuroradiology and provide in-depth review of topics within Neuroradiology. The meeting will feature Focus Sessions in Brain: Back to Basics\, Spine: Diagnosis and Intervention\, Advances in Neuroimaging\, Rise of the Machines\, Pediatric Neuroimaging\, Head and Neck: The Old and the New\, and Vascular Imaging: Stroke and Beyond. \nLetter From the President\nDear Friends\, Colleagues\, and WNRS Society Supporters: \nI am pleased to invite you to attend the WNRS 52nd Annual meeting Thursday October 22 through Sunday October 25\, 2020 to our first virtual meeting. \n \nPresident-elect Ashok Srinivasan\, MD has assembled a terrific program with Focus Sessions covering all the major areas of neuroradiology: Brain\, Spine (including interventional spine)\, Pediatrics\, Head and Neck\, Vascular\, plus sessions on Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Imaging techniques. Lectures are delivered by outstanding internationally-renowned faculty from both academics and private practice\, making this meeting a useful resource for both academicians and clinical practitioners. There is also a quiz-show format session\, which is always entertaining and informative. \nIn addition to CME- and SAM-accredited content\, there will be original research presented in the Scientific Oral Presentations sessions. We encourage the membership to submit scientific abstracts and case reports for these sessions. As always\, if you have fellows or residents in your program\, please encourage and mentor them in submitting a scientific paper. We welcome them to become involved with our Society. \nTo this end\, we will again host our Fellow/Attending Job Fair Social to introduce trainees to our superb WNRS members and mentors. This is a great opportunity to network and to explore possible employment and collaborative opportunities. \nI really look forward to again seeing my neuroradiology friends and welcoming new members to our wonderful upcoming Western Neuroradiological Society Meeting in Reno next October 2020. \nSincerely\,\nRoland R. Lee\, MD\nWNRS President \nEducational Objectives\nUpon completion of this meeting the following goals and objectives will have been met: \n\nRevisit the basics of brain imaging including approach to diagnosis of headache\, evaluation of epilepsy and brain tumors\, and learn about blind spots and normal variants in brain imaging\nTo better understand the reasons to integrate AI into clinical practice and how to overcome practical challenges with its integration\nLearn about diagnosing spinal tumors\, spine trauma\, CSF leaks and vertebral augmentation strategies\nEnhance one’s understanding on recent advances in neuroimaging including dual energy CT and its applications\, the future of MR spectroscopy\, chemical exchange saturation transfer MRI and development of faster MRI techniques\nObtain an in-depth understanding of key changes with the AJCC 8th edition in head and neck cancer staging\, and understand the role of NIRADS in this setting.\nLearn about the top 5 causes of lump in the throat sensation and perineural tumor spread in the head and neck\nLearn about the role of neuroimaging in pediatric non-accidental trauma\, pediatric stroke\, CNS tumors in children\, and spinal dysraphisms\nDiscuss recent advances in vascular imaging and focus on the pearls and pitfalls of stroke imaging\, and the diagnosis and monitoring of high flow vascular lesions.\n\n  \nTarget Audience\nThe 52nd Annual Meeting of the Western Neuroradiological Society is targeted to the neuroradiologist and radiologist in academic or private practice\, physicians in a neurologically-related specialty\, physicians in training or post-graduate training in a radiology-related specialty\, as well as physicians interested in brain\, head and neck\, and spine-related imaging and interventional techniques. \nAccreditation\nThis activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the Joint Providership of The International Institute for Continuing Medical Education\, Inc. and The Western Neuroradiological Society. The International Institute for Continuing Medical Education\, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. \nDesignation\nThe International Institute for Continuing Medical Education\, Inc.\, designates this live activity for a maximum of [acf field=”iicme_course_credits”] AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
